Board of Director Districts

The Clay Rural Water System is governed by a nine-member Board of Directors, elected by the membership from three Districts (three Directors per District). Districts are divided by Townships. District Map

Directors are elected at the annual District Elections held each year in March (Directors are not elected at the Annual Meeting). Directors are elected for three year terms. According to the System Bylaws a Director may serve a maximum of three consecutive three year terms. 

Due to the expansion into southern Union County, the Board of Directors took action in 2006 to revise the Districts to encompass the new service area and to ensure the Districts were balanced. A three year transition plan will conclude in 2009. The map shown above represents the revised Districts.

Current Directors are:

District I: John Haver, Wakonda; Rick Peterson, Vermillion; Craig Nelson, Vermillion; and Tom Manning, Beresford

District II: Duane Holoch, Meckling and Robert Wood, Vermillion

District III:  Randy Erickson, Akron;; Jim Ross, Elk Point; and Vic Hendriks, Jefferson

Members can check their New Member Packet or billing materials to determine which District they are located in. The Township number is the first two sets of numbers of your location number. If unsure, please contact the System Office.
